Once Upon An Ever After by Angela N Blount | Book Promo | #book #amreading #series #roadtrip

Once Upon An Ever After
by Angela N. Blount

Released July 2014

Set after the events of Blount's debut memoir, Once Upon A Road Trip, this short story anthology focuses on the unusual courtship of Angeli and Vincent.

When Angeli left Minnesota on a post-high school road trip, all she wanted was to see the East Coast and finally meet some of her online friends. She didn't expect to end up in a long-distance relationship with a computer-savvy Southern boy. Yet Vincent seems determined to defy the odds. To prove his intentions, he sets off on his own quest to visit Angeli and win her family's approval. But along the way he’ll have to contend with her offbeat friends, trigger-happy father, and a few questionable run-ins with Northern hospitality.

South meets North this time around, and "normal" isn't anywhere on the map.

With a thousand miles and radically different upbringings between them, can Angeli and Vincent forge a forever-worthy bond? Or are the roadblocks they face too much for either of them to overcome?

What are reviewers saying?
This is an absolutely beautiful and sweet coming of age memoir and I went through every emotion whilst reading it. I laughed, I nearly cried but was quickly picked back up and read the rest of the story with a big grin! Is it too much trouble to be hoping for another installment to this? I can't get enough of Vince and Angie's story! Inspiring through and through! A big 5 stars from me on this review! Sky on Amazon

If you haven't yet read Angela's amazing awe-inspiring memoir, Once Upon a Road Trip, I'm telling you to go out and get it now! I have never meant that sentence more. Once Upon an Ever after wraps up Angeli's and Vince's story perfectly and has you happily sighing, laughing out loud and hoping their story will be a happily ever after. Bonny Bon Bon on Amazon

One dominant alpha male.
One innocent bewitching woman.
Equals one explosive attraction.

Mia Brunetti is far too busy with her studies to worry about having a man in her life. Growing up with three unruly and overprotective brothers has made her wary of men in general. That goes double if he's your brother’s best friend.

For years, Mia has worshipped Zane Mitchell and has avoided him and hidden her heart behind a wall. She has waited her entire life for Zane to see her as more than her brother's little sister. Now that she’s old enough to stake her claim on him, she’s pulling out all the sexual stops.

Zane has sworn off all women…until innocent Mia catches his attention. He is a devastatingly, masculine male who makes Mia's imagination go wild, but Zane has desires that would send innocent Mia running. The recently injured ex-cop is now working for the Brunetti family empire. As part of Mia's internship, Mia's brothers have placed her under Zane's wing. He is more than willing to take Mia up on her offer. The fun and games tie them both up in knots. Mia isn’t willing to settle for less than the whole package. But dominant Zane, even though the sexy country girl sets his blood ablaze, is determined to resist her efforts to protect his battered heart and her from his needs.

“He makes me crazy!” I shouted.

“Uh, it might help if you start by telling me who you are talking about and exactly what happened.” Jada’s matter-of-fact tone never failed to calm me.

“Zane. He was just here.”

“Zane? As in Max’s bestie, the one who has the hots for you? That Zane? Details now!” she demanded.

I went to the kitchen and grabbed a tub of Maggie Beer’s chocolate ripple ice cream from the fridge. “He wanted to talk about my proposition.”

“So he came to the house? Couldn’t he have waited ask you at work on Monday?”

I made myself comfortable on the sofa and groaned. Oh, God, I could still smell his masculine scent. It was going to be a really long night and weekend. “Well, we sort of did more than talk.”

“Oh, my God. Did you sleep with him?”

I felt my cheeks heat. I loved Jada, but sometimes she seemed to have a way of making me feel like an unruly teenager. I opened the tub of ice cream and shoved a huge spoonful into my mouth. It was decadent. It was going directly to my thighs and I didn’t care one little bit. “No, I didn’t sleep with him. I am over eighteen though. I’m allowed to have sex. I don’t need your permission Jada!”

“Yeah, I know, but you’re like a sister to me and I look out for you, just like you do for me,” she reminded me. “Okay, so, you didn’t have sex. What did you do?

“We, uh, we sort of made out.”

“I bet it was hot, right?”

“He was fine. In fact, he was so damn fine, my body is still singing.”

Title: Out of the Darkness
Series: The Darkness #2
Author: Simone Nicole
Release Date: October 18, 2014

Synopsis

She ruined me.

The walls I’d built were for a reason; locking myself in my own personal
prison was out of necessity. Now, with the rubble at my feet, I could do
nothing but watch as she ripped my soul in two, taking the half she
owned with her.

The need to settle down, to find that missing piece, for the all-consuming love, was never Drew’s plan. He’d spent the better part of a decade suppressing all memory of love, of life. He told himself he had the essentials: the impressive apartment, the successful club, the simple, uncomplicated life he’d worked so hard to create. It was all he needed. Until Mia.

She entered his life like wildfire, burning through his world and destroying all pretence of simplicity, evoking everything he’d fought to deny.

Longing. Warmth. Love.

She made him want it all, but Amelia lived in the darkness. It had always
been her constant yet terrifying companion. A shadow she'd never been
able to out run and one fateful night it finally consumed her,  shattering both their worlds and burying them deeper in the dark.

Drew will stop at nothing to save her, for their happy ever after, but Mia
isn’t the only one with demons … It’s a long way out of the darkness.

Blood.

That's the only memory he carries from a childhood he does not remember. And now it is all he knows. Blood is his life.

Knox Bishop has done a lot of horrible things, all at the command of the man who holds his leash. It's a matter of loyalty for him. Allegiance to the man who saved his life when he was a child. So he goes where he is needed and does what he is told. He tortures. He kills. He kills. He tortures. It is an unrelenting cycle that he constantly craves and can never quite satisfy.

Until her.

Eighteen year old Lacey Barnes distributes her assets to fund her dreams. Medical school is the end game and she is determined to get there by any means necessary. But a family member's careless mistake derails her plans and now she must pay a price in order to save him.

She goes to Knox willingly offering him the only valuable thing she has. Herself. In doing so he allows her into his world, a world filled with darkness but rather than being scared it intrigues her. It lures her, calls to something in her that she hadn't known existed until he awakened it.

Every bit of his flaws is reflected in her and Knox will do anything to keep her in the darkness with him.

Foxy Rating = Four stars

This is an extremely dark, disturbing but utterly compelling read and is definitely not for the faint-hearted!

The book is written in different POVs, namely Knot, Lacey and Katia.

Lacey is an eighteen year old prostitute, trying to hold her dysfunctional family together, whilst trying to get herself out of her hell of a life by putting herself through school to study medicine eventually. She turned to prostitution to earn well to help her do this. She finds herself constantly having to protect her drug addict mother and herself from Red, her mother's pimp, whilst at the same time cover her older brother Dante's ass from whatever dangerous scrape he gets himself into.

It is through trying to save Dante from another run in with loan sharks and the mob that she comes face to face with Knox. She offers herself to him in order to cover Dante's debt. Little does she know what she has actually doomed herself to experience.

Knox is a killer, a sadist. There is something about the beautiful prostitute that pushes his boundaries. Instead of yearning to kill this petite girl, he finds himself wanting to keep her for she is the only female that seems to accept his sadism needs and punishments. Little be little she chips away till little chinks start to appear in his hardened killer instincts. That is until......

Yes there is a massive cliffhanger that leaves the reader with a jaw dropping gasp at the end. What a compelling and disturbing read I had just witnessed. It had me worried for my own boundaries and what I was willing to accept and tolerate. Knox is absolutely evil and the things he puts Lacey through just beggars belief but I just could not stop reading and pushing through the barriers I thought I had. Add his sister Katia into the mix and the whole storyline just takes it to another level.

If you love your reads dark, disturbing but oh so compelling then this is definitely one not to miss. Four stars.

Knox

I’m not what you would call normal. The word has no meaning to me. But I’ve been pretending to act normal. It’s something I’ve been practicing since I’ve been aware of the thrum and its significance in my life. I was seven when I first heard the lullaby. Second grade, just before recess. It happened in a squall. Nothing and then all at once. I remember everything about that day. The bell rang and the other children went to play. Not me. Never me. I always stayed behind, mostly by choice, but never contested because the other children thought I was weird. I think maybe they unconsciously knew that I was lacking something fundamental. Something they all had and I didn’t, and maybe even never had at all. Whatever it was, I was alienated, excluded from their games. But I couldn’t say it bothered me. I was indifferent to it. Katia would sometimes play with me. Yuri’s youngest daughter, my adoptive sister, kept me company when she wasn’t with her own friends. But she’d been home sick that day.
In the small classroom with its oversized, rainbow-colored letters hanging over the chalkboard and tiled number blocks littering the carpeted floor, I sat in the beanbag chair staring fixatedly at the class pet. Sweet Ms. Devon always stayed with me but she’d left for a moment. A moment to heat her lunch. A moment to speak to a fellow staff member in the teachers’ lounge. But it’d been a moment too long for me. The noise in my head had been too loud. The urge too strong. The pink-eyed little rabbit, Mr. Apples, and the yellow pair of scissors sitting blades down in Ms. Devon’s “Best Teacher” mug had been too much of a temptation for me to resist.
The pounding of my heart. The lullaby and the thrum. The latch had given way beneath my shaking fingers, soaked with apprehension and anticipation. The struggle. The frantic movement of something living, something warm, with the same accelerated heartbeat as mine grappling for life. Desperate for freedom even while knowing the inevitable hand of death loomed was intoxicating. The thrill, the excitement, the sweet seductive power. I swam in it. Like too much candy on Halloween. Too much ice cream in the summer. It had been a quick death for Mr. Apples. It had been crude. Amateurish. But ever so effective in quieting the discord of my mind.
Poor, sweet Ms. Devon came to find me on the floor of the overly-bright classroom. Huddled on the floor, covered in Mr. Apples. She’d been one to smile a lot. But I stole her smile that day and replaced it with horror instead. Her pretty features contorted like a Kabuki mask.
