Healing a Cowboy's Heart by Sandy Sullivan

Book Blurb:

Jeffery Young is tired of women and their games. His son’s mother did enough damage to his heart to last a lifetime. Now, he had to deal with the architect helping the land developers tear up the local ranches for their houses. Not on his watch. Terri Kennedy had her own plans. As the architect for a large land development in Bandera Texas, the deal would put her business on the map, but dealing with the stubborn, bull headed male from the local ranch didn’t come with her job description. Maybe staying on their guest ranch would give her some clues as how to handle Mr. Stubborn Jackass. Will the secrets she’s harboring keep him from getting close? Can he learn to trust women again or should be play the game to find out what’s she’s up to?

Teaser (Warning - Adult scene)

With a touch of his hand, the light in the bathroom flipped on. One thing he did enjoy in life was a hot shower. Tonight he certainly needed it. He wrenched his shoulder this morning fighting with a particularly ornery calf who didn’t want to come out of the brush even when its mama called to it. Some days he really hated his job, but most of the time he loved being a cowboy. Not like he’d known anything else in his life. Cowboying was in his DNA. He couldn’t see his life any other way.
He quickly stripped out of his clothes and turned on the hot water. One thing he’d insisted on when his parents helped him build his house was a top of the line bathroom. The shower had tile from top to bottom along with a large rain showerhead.
With a weary sigh, he climbed in and shut the door. Hot water streamed down on his head as he closed his eyes. God, that feels good. He worked his shoulder under the heat of the water to try to loosen it up. He hoped it didn’t stiffen up tonight while he slept, but he figured it would. Some liniment might help.
While he washed the dirt of the day from his body, his mind wandered to baser thoughts. It’d been several months since he’d been with a woman and even though he didn’t need the headaches of a female in his life, he still had the needs of a man.
Maybe it’s time to hook up with someone. I could do a bar run into San Antonio and probably pick up some chick there who wouldn’t know who I am.
Terri Kennedy’s green eyes popped into his head. She did have pretty eyes behind those wire rimmed glasses from what he could see.
He rubbed the soap over his cock and balls, losing himself in the feel of his hand over his flesh.
Would she be good in bed? How would she look with all of her blonde hair spilling over his abdomen while she sucked him off?
His eyes popped open. “Wow. Her?”
What the hell. He shrugged and closed his eyes again. She’s pretty enough.
With his cock wrapped in his fist, he imagined her sucking the whole shaft between her lips. Each suck, each lick brought his desire higher. Her beautiful green eyes sparkled with lust as she sat between his thighs bringing him the best pleasure he’d had in a hell of a long time. Moments later, cum sprayed over his hand as he came so hard, he saw stars.
He slumped against the wall of the shower as he tried to catch his breath. It’d been a long damned time since he’d exploded like a sixteen-year-old kid with his first fuck. After he shook his head to clear his thoughts, he stood back under the water to wash the cum from his body. Wow. That was pretty intense.

Review
My rating = a foxy dazzling four stars !
This is the second book in the Cowboy Dreamin’ series. After reading the first book - Make Mine a Cowboy, Joel’s book, I was a little hesitant as I like my cowboys with a little more grit and sustenance which Joel didn't really materialise for me. However we had been given a glimpse of Jeff and it did intrigue me to want to read his story.

Jeff is the eldest of the nine (yes nine!) Young brothers and he is recently out of a divorce from a woman who besides cheating on him before and after their wedding, has ripped a part of him from his heart which he feels will never recover from. This is the cause of his dark and perturbing air of standoffishness and aloofness. The only light in his life is that of his young son, Ben, the only good thing that his marriage gave to him. Jeff is quite content to never be involved in a relationship again and to just be a good father to his son and carry on working on his family ranch. That is until the land adjoining the ranch was sold to developers who were planning to build and feeling this was a threat to his and his son’s future he was protesting at every stage. Even more so when he came face to face with Terri Kennedy who had the audacity to be surveying the development from his side of the boundary line!

Terri’s hackles are immediately up after the menacing behaviour of the sexy cowboy. He doesn't give her a chance to explain anything but just orders her off his land. All Terri is trying to do is to ensure the conservation of the existing plant and wildlife is preserved amongst the development but trying to have any type of discussion with Jeff is out of the question. She is given the chance to further investigate the lay of the land and its neighbours by staying at a local “dude ranch” which she finds out is owned by Jeff and his family! Let’s just say when Jeff sees her there the battle lines were drawn!

I liked this book as it was not a straight forward easy read, there was a lot of angst and drama aided by the back story of what the developers were trying to do but also Jeff’s ex-wife!  The sex scenes were rocking it big time and just to warn you there is anal play involved in one scene so you can see what to expect. Scorchio!

I liked the interactions of the family and how the brothers were portrayed. I did find it a tad confusing at first as all their names begin with a J! The mother, Nina was kick ass and definitely was the controller of this family. She needed to be with nine sexy cowboys to look after!

So if you love sexy cowboys, sassy women, cute as a button kiddies and the warmth of a loving Texas family then this is certainly a series for you. Especially this book. Enjoy!
