This is the 2nd novella in the Beaumont Trilogy. In the first novella, Saving Chloe, it was the story of the relationship development of Parker and Chloe. Here, as the title states we find out all about Parker’s past, from his childhood to his sexual entanglements and history.

The story reads as a series of Parker’s interactions with the ladies but we are introduced to Emma who has a lasting impact on Parker. Not much was touched on this in the first novella so it will be interesting to see how it will play out for Emma and Chloe with Parker in the third and final novella.

I didn’t really feel the love for Parker in this, however I get that he was a younger man and with a huge chip on his shoulder he had not yet learnt to manage in his behaviours to his sexual partners. It was a shame as I liked him in Saving Chloe. I will reserve any further judgement on his character when all is concluded in the final instalment.

There were a few inconsistencies in this book in view of what had already been revealed in the first book and a few name changes that was a little confusing.

However, overall it was a quick and spicy read. The next novella is Family Secrets.

I rip her panties from her body and then squeeze her ass and lower a kiss to each cheek, causing her to tremble under my hands. I lightly caress and smooth over the pink skin to soothe the sting away before I land another smack, which catches her off guard. She yelps loudly and pushes her ass out against my hand, just begging for more. "You like that. Don't you, Emma?" I growl and lower my body against her back, kissing her neck and across her shoulder. I'm grinding my cock against her flesh, and I'm sure my jeans are coated with her juices by now. I lift my body, glide both hands down each side of her body and stop just above her ass and pause, letting the anticipation build. Her body tenses, as if she expects me to spank her again, but instead, I caress and kiss each ass cheek. I retrieve a condom from my pocket, tear it open with my teeth, roll it down my length, and stroke it against her entrance a few times before pushing slightly.

My name is Regina Frame and I live in Alabama with my husband and three dogs. I've always had a love for animals and I work with charities to help raise money for homeless pets. I've been known to carry food in my car and stop on the street to feed an animal. I recently rescued a severely abused dog after trying for two months with no success. He now lives with me and my husband and he is happy and healthy today.

I'm an avid reader of romance and erotica novels, and recently released my own. Saving Chloe is part one of a trilogy which was released September seventeenth. Parker's Past is book two, which was released Nov. 30, 2013. The final book "Family Secrets" will be released early 2014. Thank you for your support, it means the world to me.

My Rating = 3.25 stars

A good start to a new series. This was a sweet and short introduction to The Chase series.

Liam Collins has recently moved to the city and anxious to land a job before his savings run out. He is shocked therefore to be given an interview and then given the job at a publishing house. The interview was a little obscure and at the end of it Liam is still unaware what his actual duties will be but the pay is good and he can’t believe his luck. He is asked to bring the completed contract questionnaire and turn up at an address the next day.

The building he finds himself standing outside the next day is not what he was expecting but it wasn’t until he was shown to an executive apartment that it was made clear to him. He was to be the public face of Chase Preston, the bestselling author.

I really like the author’s writing style and it was easy to embrace the storyline. Liam was a likeable and amenable character and an instant hit. Chase on the other hand was standoffish and antagonised Liam. He acted the elder of the pairing although Liam is a good few years older. Liam found himself attracted to Chase and on the two rare occasions they came into contact, they ended with passionate embraces but then Chase returning to his aloof demeanour.

Although I can appreciate this was told from Liam’s POV the reader doesn’t really have any insights with Chase and is therefore unable to bond with his character. I felt this could have been developed a little further in order to achieve a more satisfactory ending to entice the reader to want to read the next book.

At the beginning I was thinking Liam might have ended up with Landon, one of the interviewers and the publishing house management. That would have been a great May – December romance!

Overall a good storyline set at a nice pace and if there had been more of Chase’s character and interaction with Liam, this would have been a much higher rating.
