Title: Double Alchemy
Author: Susan Mac Nicol
Publisher: Boroughs Publishing Group
Release Date: 25th March, 2014
Genre: M/M Paranormal Romance
Synopsis
Powerful yet tormented modern warlock Quinn Fairmont must initiate the silver-eyed Cade Mairston into the world of witchfinders, withinners, and what can happen when two men fall truly, madly, deeply in love.
THE WORLD IN SHADOW
In modern London there lurks a warlock, Quinn Fairmont. Dangerous, powerful, tortured, sharing his body with the soul of an ancient Welsh sorcerer, Quinn is never alone—and never wholly himself. He fights against all those who would exploit his kind. He takes pleasure where he can find it.
In the forest of Hampstead Heath, Quinn’s hometown, Cade Mairston appears to him like a waking dream. Lithe, lean and silver-eyed, he evokes feelings in Quinn unlike any other: lust with true affection, immediate and shocking. Cade is clearly more than he seems. And yet, if a man of the world, Cade is innocent. He knows nothing of warlocks, witchfinders or withinners. He knows nothing of what he is, what he might be, or what he might feel. For him, the story is just beginning.
Magyck, peril and passion await.

Susan Mac Nicol brings us another sexilicious m/m romance
but also takes us into a magyckal world of Warlocks, Withinners, Fae, Witchfinders
and Witches.
Quinn Fairmount, a powerful warlock in modern London shares
his body with his Withinner named Taliesan, the soul of an ancient welch sorcerer.
Quinn meets Cade Mairston on Hampstead
Heath and is immediately and fiercely attracted to this human which sparks an
intensity that is further amplified when he identifies why this is so. Cade is
no ordinary human but Cade has never known his true being. He is drawn into the
world that Quinn slowly introduces him to but there is a darkness that he is reluctant
to involve Cade in, and stops at nothing in order to protect him.
The story then evolves of the quest of Quinn, how Cade fits
into this World and the evil forces that are edging ever closer to destroy
Quinn’s kind.
The story building was wondrous to partake in and like a
breath of fresh air to the usual paranormal offering of vamps and shifters. It
actually gave me contemplative thought of folklore and brought this to a
believable fantasy world that I delved further in to research. I loved it! The
clever plotting and steady pace made for an altogether engrossing read.
As with all Susan Mac Nicol books, she knows how to write a
good m/m passionate love story and this, to me, actually raised the bar. In
fact I thought it was a raunchier read which I certainly enjoyed! Quinn was a so
much in authority and commanding person, he was swoon worthy! Cade was such a
sexy sweetheart he made my heart flutter. Their connection was an immediate
winner, especially the insta-lust (there was a reason for this) which when it
happens before 10% of the read you know you are in for a page flipper. Then to
see how they fell in love and trusted one another was a joy to read. Even when
Taliesan inflicted his bad boy tendencies onto poor Cade. He just didn’t get
these human feelings!
For me Taliesan was one of the highlights of the book, he
was such an amazing character and I loved how he was with Quinn and the
arguments and naughtiness he gave him. I need to hunt him down in sixth century
Wales! The whole Withinner theory was inspired and a clever pairing of Taliesan
and Quinn personalities.
I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this book as
paranormal is not one of my first selections for a new read nowadays but this
was an amazing read. I loved the combination of the magyck and the m/m romance
storyline. The story does not end with this book so it was more of a HFN rather
than a HEA but I am so glad Ms Mac Nicol is not keeping us waiting as the
second book in the series will be released 22nd May 2014. I highly
recommended this book to read and is an absolute five star rating from me.

Using Star Signs to develop characters
by Susan Mac Nicol
Here’s the thing. I have this little quirk of deciding what characteristics best suit the way I want my character to develop and then drawing on star sign detail to develop them. Not all of it is relevant, but I certainly take some of the good and bad bits when bringing my men to life.
Here’s a quick run- down on the main men in my life, their Star Signs and a couple of little details about them.
Shane Templar - Gemini - incessant talker, multi dimensionally talented, mischievous. He loves the adventure and game playing involved in out-thinking other people. Loves variety and excitement.
Matthew Langer -Taurus - Security-conscious, resolute, sensual, dependable, faithful, secure, proud, obstinate and decisive
Alexander Montgomery - Libra - Refined, social, artistic, vacillating, intellectual, communicative and concerned with relationships. Soft, graceful, a dreamer.
Christopher Sage - Sagittarius - Curious, magnanimous, honest, expansive, generous, reckless, extroverted, proud, larger than life, free
Nick Mathers - Capricorn - Loving, susceptible, sympathetic, sensual, faithful, instinctive, charitable, over-reactive and moody
Owen Butler - Pisces - Loving, sensitive, intuitive, spiritual, idealistic, victimised and moody, spiritual, empathic
Quinn Fairmont - Leo - Original, imposing, inflexible, motivated, ambitious, loyal, physical, charitable and majestic
Cade Mairston - Scorpio - Secretive, passionate, resolute, insensitive, steadfast, painstaking and stubborn
Anyone who has read my books and knows these men will understand a lot of the characteristics above and say, ’Oh my goodness, that is so Shane/Owen/Alex’ At least I hope they will. If not, why not read all of my books, meet the men themselves and make up your own mind.
Here’s a link to the full details of these personalities and characteristics.
PS I’m a Capricorn.
