Cosette Beauvais is a risk taker with a capital R. When her daredevil behavior leaves her paralyzed, her uncle ends her suffering by turning her into a vampire. In no time she makes her mark as one of the most cunning female vamps in existence.
Though her fearlessness is admired in her violent new world, her impulsiveness leaves her with terrible regrets. By violating the rules, she kills a young human while feeding from him. The selfish deed haunts her, causing her to steer clear of men who attract her both physically and mentally. After she breaks with a vampire kingpin named Tristan who tried to turn her against her uncle and her own vampire family, her life spins out of control. Bloodthirsty wolves, a new threat to the Savannah area, stalk her daily. She is dead set on finding the source of the attempts on her life and repairing the strained ties with her uncle Severin, so the last thing Cosette needs is a devastatingly sexy new human in her life. Colton Brennan is a massive Montana cowboy, a skilled fighter who has sworn to win Cosette’s love.
Try as she might, she can’t resist the passion he has ignited within her, no matter what the consequences. Can this human provide the love and protection Cosette has unwittingly craved? Meanwhile Tristan and his power-hungry clan are on a quest for Southern vampiric domination. Can Cosette and her Charleston-based vampire family survive their brutal onslaughts? Book 2 in the Past Midnight series.

“Those Who Savor Bite”
Each and every one of us has a distinct image that flashes to the front of our minds when we hear the term, ‘Vampire.’ Some of us might conjure up a seductive vision of an alpha lover with a gleaming set of fangs, while others might summon a mental image of a creature far deadlier, a savage that is incapable of empathy on any level. That is the lure of a vampire, the fact that our conception of them is so vast and mysterious that the potential is there for infinite delineations.
Personally, I prefer a strong balance, a vampire that encompasses both viciousness as well as a conscious. It is important to me that the reader is aware that the vampire is a cut above other creatures in thought, reason and action. I see the vampire as a predator, a calculating, intelligent survivor that will use any means necessary to eliminate threats to themselves and those they love. They wouldn’t give a second thought to twisting someone’s neck until it snaps like a dry branch or even ripping their throat out. In the game of eternal survival, hesitation means ‘game over’ and the vamps I create know this all too well. I admire the way Anne Rice pens her vamps, lethal yet sophisticated, primal yet romantic; in my opinion this is a fantastic formula.
In my ‘Past Midnight’ series the reader will find a selection of traditional lore such as the inability to exist in sunlight for more than a few minutes along with the idea of, ‘glamouring’ or temporarily placing their human prey in a trance-like state so they will not feel pain from the bite. There is also a significant blood exchange theme that runs through the book from vamps drinking from their own kind and more often feeding from humans for basic nutrients. I also enjoy bringing not so traditional elements into the mix like the idea of ‘tracing’, the act of a vampire physically relocating if they’ve visited a place in the past.
Diversity and a wicked fast pace are aspects that I always aim to deliver to the audience. In this book, the reader is dropped into the following locales: Savannah, Charleston, Montana, and Spain. If you’re looking for a thrill ride paranormal romance then you should give Savannah Past Midnight a try.
All the best,
Xx.
