Series: Roughstock Sweethearts #1
Author: BA Tortuga
Publisher: Totally Bound Publishing
Blurb
Traditional cowboy Cotton and tattooed Emmy couldn’t be more different. That’s part of their attraction, but different worlds can make for a lot of heartache.
Emmy doesn’t really like cowboys. She might be from Texas, but she’s a city girl, truly invested in keeping Austin weird, just like the slogan says. With her corsets and tattoos, she stands out at the western bar where she ends up after being abandoned by her friends. That might be why she catches the attention of Cotton, who’s a bull rider by trade, and definitely a cowboy. Cotton thinks Emmy might be the most fascinating girl he’s ever met. She’s not a cowgirl, and she’s not model skinny, but she’s beautiful and smart and he wants her like he’s never wanted anything before.
As one date turns into months of seeing each other in between bull riding events, Cotton starts to think that Emmy is the all-important One. Cotton’s friends and family might not be so sure, though. As Emmy’s life starts to unravel around her, Cotton has to fight his fears and his confusion to prove to Emmy that city and country might just be able to work after all.

Ink and Piercings
So. I have ink.
Like a lot of ink. Like two sleeves, a back piece, a chest piece and little ones all over. I’m sort of a fan. I started out getting tattoos in college. I was an art student and I worked at the campus newspaper. My best friend and I spent an entire semester interviewing body mod aficionados.
No, seriously. Tattoo artists. Piercers. People who did hard-core body mods. Amateurs that…
Well, let me express to you the grossness inherent at the sight of an entire fraternity branding each other with designs they made out of coat hangers. Oh my god. The smell. (Also, did you know that if you brand something in a complete shape, all the skin falls off inside? True story.)
I’ve seen people who have bone implanted under their scalps, triple nipple rings, and people who wanted to get tattoos with no ink at all.
Every tattoo artist I meet gets asked the same question: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever tattooed? I’ve heard about a man who wanted a Tigger (you know, from Winnie the Pooh) tail tattooed in the crack of his butt, a man who got a swarm of bees inked on his testicles, and a woman who wanted her body piercings inked on. There’s the tiny man jumping into a bellybutton, the replica of a lady’s eyes on her eyelids, and I knew a man that tattooed on his own mustache.
We’ve all got our own style, our own ink-kink, and Emmy from City Country is no different. She’s got lots of ink, lots of piercings, but everyone has a story and they’re all special. It’s a thing. One I get.
*grins*
Remind me one day when we’re all having a beer together to tell y’all the story of the friend of mine who went to have his penis and tongue split. On the same day.
That one’s...special.
Much love, y’all.

“Mmmhmm.” She ran her hands down her sides, trying not to be self-conscious. She wasn’t a tiny girl. Not at all. Cotton stepped back, holding her hands away from her body. He took in every detail from the waist up, and she got the impression that he was happy. Maybe that was the moan. Her nipples tightened and she shivered, wanting in that sudden, sharp way that only came with a brand new lover.
He moved right back in and lifted her right up off her feet, his lips moving over her left breast. God, he was strong for someone his size.
“Cotton…” Her thin little shirt didn’t hide anything, and when his lips found her nipple ring, she moaned.
His whole body jerked, and she landed on her feet with a thud. “Wait. What—?”
He pulled her shirt off so fast it almost left carpet burn.
“You okay?” Her nipples were so hard they ached, the platinum rings with their sapphire jewels throbbing with her heartbeat.
“I am—” His voice broke, and he glanced up for just a second, his eyes burning into hers. “That’s. Wow. Can I?”
“Uh-huh. They’re for pleasure, as well as decoration.” God, what was he going to do when he found the other piercing?
