When Levi’s new job puts him in Thane’s path, their chemistry explodes, but their fear of being involved in relationships keeps them apart. Unfortunately, despite the intense desire drawing them together, neither man can move forward until they get past their own…Reservations.
A new standalone m/m romance by authors Kindle Alexander,
brings together the story of opposites, Thane Walker and Levi Silva.
Thane is a self-assured businessman who has made a name for
himself and is now riding high on a new venture. He is not a man for
relationships and he seeks out escorts or short term sex contracts to feed his
sexual gratifications. He is a man used to getting what he wants and when he
wants. However when he spies new waiter in his new business, Reservations, he
is drawn like a moth to a flame with the extremely sexy Levi.
Levi has always struggled in life and more so since his
father’s death some two years ago. Having to shelve his plans on his doctor
training to care for his two younger brothers, he takes on extra jobs where he
can to support them all. Also with his mother having walked out on them some
fifteen years ago and then hearing of her death shortly after, Levi is all
alone in his financial and emotional struggles. When he is offered a job from
an ex client from his physical therapist role, Julian, who now manages a hit
new club, Reservations, he is astounded to hear he can make more in one night
than a week in his café job, he knows he has no excuse but to take it. Levi has
very high morals and he sees Reservations as a high class hook up joint for gay
men. However once he sees how classy it is and that Julian is only out to
support him, he takes the job which brings him into contact with his boss’
boss, Thane.
The attraction between the two of them is undeniable and the
chemistry is intense. However when two opposites meet there is bound to be
plenty of angst, plenty of drama and plenty of heat which this book absolutely
brings forth. The secondary characters were extremely likable and brought an
added depth to the storyline. It was good to also cross over and pick up with other
characters from previous books (it can still be read as a standalone though). The
highlight characters for me though were Julian and Levi’s brothers.
There were some elements of the story that were way over the
top, especially the part about Levi’s mother which for me did not add anything
to the story or enhance it so was kind of irrelevant. I suppose this strange
drama did in a way mean that Levi and Thane were forced to be in closer proximity.
There was also an extreme over use of epithets which I have found recent books
by these authors which I find so distracting when I should be focused only on
the storyline. Maybe it’s just me but it was annoying.
Overall though it was an engaging and sexy read and I liked
how the spoilt and selfish Thane overcame his shortcomings and the downtrodden martyr
Levi outgrew his outlook on life and started to believe in his self-worth. The
HEA was added by the heart-warming epilogue, so a lovely ending. Four stars.
Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!
I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.
