Review
Begin With You is the first in a dramatic duet that ends in
a cliff hanger.
Both Wes and Abby had a traumatic start in life, however Wes
was rescued by the Aherns and has lead a happy life since he was adopted by
them at a young age. Abby on the other hand continued in her personal hell
until she was fostered by the Aherns at seventeen. Wes and Abby strike up a
friendship beyond compare but after years have passed they finally give in to
feelings that steers their relationship to a new place.
This was a deep read and covered some dark subject matter,
however it was also a slow burn of a romance of friends who become more. The
revelations of the past are slowly delivered so the reader builds up a picture
of what has happened to Abby but there is still so much to be known.
I have read other books by this author and I do prefer the
ones where it is older couples. Wes and Abby are in their twenties and although
I loved Wes, Abby took a bit longer to understand, especially when she moved
back to Denver. I found the panic and anxiety attacks a little over the top at
times, especially as she had gone out into the World and had new experiences to
build her character and confidence. Maybe more will be revealed in the next
book to help me understand more.
Overall though another compelling read from this author and
I can’t wait to see what happens next. Four stars.
