Book: LOVE in the DARK

Author: Isabel Pietri

(MILAGROS and ADRIAN)
(VOLUME 1)

BLURB

NYPD surveillance expert, Detective Millie Angeles knows well that scintillating things can transpire under the cover of dark. Some of them happen to be quite pleasurable. Others, however, are nothing short of deadly. LOVE in the DARK lifts the cloak of darkness on one woman’s action-packed life, revealing high action and erotic encounters that are certain to enthrall and excite anyone who loves their intrigue served with plenty of sauce.

In the sordid, shimmering streets of New York City, Millie has made a name for herself working in the elite TARU unit of the New York Police Department as the go-to girl for surveillance and tracking. However, when tragedy occurs, she finds herself casting about for a new chapter. That all falls into place when she lands a job at a private company, which dispatches her to the West Coast to work for Adrian Zaragosa, a blind, and strikingly handsome owner of a winery estate in the Napa Valley. As the plot thickens and their passion sparks, Millie finds herself in the throes of both extreme danger and overpowering desire. Millie’s talents seem to be just what Adrian needs. Or is he simply manipulating a situation to have her near?

Blood-pumping and heart-racing, LOVE in the DARK will leave readers wanting more, and perhaps even begging for it. It’s Fifty Shades of Grey and the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo commingling into one irresistible read.

This is the debut book by Ms Pietri and what a great debut it is. An engrossing storyline with lots of steamy and sensual moments between the main characters Milagros (Mille) and Adrian.

I really engaged with both characters and I loved that although Adrian was blind, it in no way stopped him from delivering extremely sexy alpha man tendencies. I fell for him hook line and sinker.

Millie takes up a job offer as head of security for the mysterious Mr Zaragosa and takes temporary leave from her NYPD unit TARU. She is a strong and feisty woman and takes no nonsense from anyone. She finds she is instantly attracted to Mr Z (Adrian) but being the professional she is she does not act on it until she starts to have these amazing real life dreams featuring her luscious new boss! How quickly dreams become reality!

Adrian is a mega mogul who owns and runs the family vineyard that has been in his family for generations. However he suddenly picks up on his sixth sense that there is a threat in the wings and hiring the gorgeous Milagros is a necessity that turns out to be a desirability factor in all the suspense.

I really loved the sexual tension and romance build up between Millie and Adrian and when finally the spark is given free rein it explodes in an extremely HOT way! However I wanted more details after but this was skimmed over too quick for my liking. Never the less I loved the erotic romance that unfolded.

I did find the suspense elements to be way too over complicated and the reader bombarded with sub plot after sub plot, I had to keep on my toes to figure out where each separate threat was coming from and why for. None seemed to join up but this may be explained further in the next book The Black Calla Lily. There were also too many coincidences that erased some of the believability that had been so wonderfully developed in the first part of the book. I liked the darkness and intensity of the beginning which seemed to lose track further on. However it did not detract from my enjoyment of the book, I really did like this book – it was definitely an engrossing and captivating read. I would not have known this was a debut book for the author.

Overall a great storyline with a gorgeous blind man to lust over, he may have lost one sense but he surely made good use of his other senses tenfold. This man is irresistible! I am looking forward to the next book but in the meantime I definitely recommend you pick up a copy of Love in the Dark, pronto. Four wonderful stars.
