BOOK: Double Alchemy - Climax
SERIES: Double Alchemy #2
GENRE: M/M Paranormal Romance (Hot!)
AUTHOR: Susan Mac Nicol
RELEASED: 22nd May 2014 (Today!!)
PUBLISHERS: Boroughs Publishing Group

SYNOPSIS
Powerful modern warlock Quinn Fairmont found ecstasy with the silver-eyed and not-quite-human Cade Mairston, but to know true happiness the pair must best both the shadow of a long-ago lover and an ancient enemy who seeks to destroy love, light and all they hold dear.

A BLINDING LIGHT

It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston.

Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks. Could it be one of his own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men…and whether it seeks to love or destroy.

REVIEW

Foxy Rating = Five Stars
This is the second book in the continuation of the Double Alchemy series and here we have the climax to the story. I was already hooked in this magyckal world of Warlocks, Withinners and Fae and the sparkle and fantasy continued to shine for me.

Quinn and Cade now living together are truly tested with the actions of a past lover of Quinn and a powerful old enemy. I won’t go too much in the storyline as the beauty is in the read itself. Needless to say it is a fabulous epitome of paranormal storytelling intermingled with some hot m/m romance and not to be missed!

I’ve really enjoyed this two book series and for somebody who is not a paranormal fan these days (although it is far superior a read to label it just as that) this just goes to show how amazing a read this series is. The story build up was driven further in this book to deliver an amazing ending. Book one was already a five star recommend from me and this final book continued the trend.

Again, as with all Susan Mac Nicol’s books she just get the characterisation spot on and gifted the reader with two hot, sexy and complex individuals along with engaging and demanding secondary characters (yes even those you want to shout ‘Boo! and Hiss!’ to).

A definite ‘one click’ I highly recommend and maybe beg for more? Five stars.

GUEST POST by Susan Mac Nicol, author

What are your top five favourite things to do to relax after a hard day at work, whatever it is that you do? You might be a hard working housewife, a busy businessman, a harried housekeeper or a dedicated doctor but you must have special things you like to do to wind down.

I’ve put a list of mine together, see if any of them are the same as yours.

§  Make myself a Latte using the Dolce Gusto coffee machine in my bedroom. I love this gift from my son. I salivate at the smell of coffee as the pods pop open and the hot water pours into the cup. Sheer heaven.

§ If the hubby is home, kiss him hello, ask him how his day was. The fact that most days he’s had a day much worse than mine gives me a little bit of an opportunity to give him a cuddle. Not that one needs an excuse of course J

§Grab my Kindle from the side of the bed and read a few pages of the current book while I drink said coffee. It’s a hedonistic pleasure.

§Sometimes taking ourselves off to TGI Friday’s where my son works as a mixologist (that’s a cocktail bartender to the uninitiated). Watching the bartenders flare (throw the bottles around like Tom Cruise did in Cocktail) and listening to some funky music always puts me in the right frame of mind.

§      Sit out in my garden if the weather is nice and sunny. Enjoy the chimes of the church of St Mary’s across the road, smell the river that runs through the adjacent field and simply ‘breathe in, breathe out’. It’s good for the soul.

Sometimes it’s the simple things that bring us pleasure. I don’t deny I love to go to dinner at my friend John’s house ‘Talliston’ and enjoy great cooking in a sumptuous environment but those sorts of treats I leave for really special occasions..

And of course the pleasure of perhaps going to the local cinema complex and grabbing a huge bag of popcorn, a giant size Coke and relaxing back into the chair in the dark while watching the hunky heroes on screen as they save the world….definitely another ‘hedonistic’ moment..
