Synopsis
I’m Piper Jones, owner and operator or Vipers’ Den; a hair and beauty salon catering to the unconventional. My clients are often referred to as: eccentric, freaks, or misfits.
I’m also single, a fact my mother is less than pleased with. Making it her mission to change my status, she continually sets me up on dates with her friend’s offspring. Only her roster of “gems” is dwindling. Each date is worse than the last.
Then Kade Benson, the one man I have loathed for as long as I can remember, approached me with the most asinine (borderline genius) plan I’d ever heard to rectify both of our situations.
As ludicrous as it is, it might just work.
However, I never expected things to work out the way they did.

This is the first book in a series of novellas where the
stories concentrate on a salon – Vipers Den. This is Piper (the owner) and Kade’s
story.
Piper has hated Kade, her brother’s best friend for most of
her life as she felt he took her brother away from her, who she also classed as
her best friend and confidant. Little has changed over the years so when Kade
asks her to help him with a situation he has found himself in she is shocked
and surprised. He apparently has a stalkerish woman on his trail and he wants
Piper to pretend to be his girlfriend to get this mad woman off his back. At
first Piper is all for telling him to take a hike but then she finds by helping
him he will also be helping her. Her mother is often trying to match make her with
her friends weird sons, so if she also pretends Kade is her boyfriend that will
solve her problem too. The only problem is as they hate each other how can they
pull off a convincing display of being in love?
They say that hate is close to love and that certainly
stands up in this sexy and quirky read. I love a romance that involves ‘friends’
becoming lovers and although loosely termed here it did follow that attractive
formulae. What Piper doesn’t know is that Kade has always carried a torch for
her and wants nothing more than for their fake relationship become real. Piper
also finds herself becoming more accommodating to Kade, especially after that
kiss. Then when they find themselves in the same bed the hatred quickly turns
into mega lust and maybe something more?
I really enjoyed this book and was certainly not what I
envisaged from the cover and blurb. It sounded like a real ‘out there’ type of
read but it was a real romance storyline layered with a hint of crazy stalker.
I loved that the characters, especially the workers at the salon who were a
quirky and interesting bunch.
Can’t wait to read more of the series. Five stars!

Eliza Brown is a simple little housewife from Cairns, Australia, with a wicked good imagination. She is the mother to three crazily cute kids and the wife of a Sexy Arse Tree Lopper. She is also baby sister to a Certified Nutbag, a Linesman and a Fireman.
Eliza spends her days running around after her kids and jotting down stories that come to her at inconvenient moments in her leather, flower embossed notebook. (She is very particular about her stationary.) Or in her iPhone or iPad or whatever she can get her hands on. (Damn kids keep running off with her stationary.)
When the kids are napping nine times out of ten, you will find Eliza sitting at her computer typing as fast as she can while she can. Generally with her phone wedged between her shoulder and ear bouncing ideas off her sister.
