This is the first book in the Secrets and Lies series and my first read of this author.

Mia has come through an anguishing time after she is betrayed. She is now closed off from others, except her house mates and best friends. That is until she meets the sexy and enticing Ethan.

Ethan is the vice president of his family business and Mia is working undercover to capture information to help with her next journalist job. The book transpires of what went on in Mia’s history to make her standoffish and the reason for her taking on an undercover job. It also delves into the coming together of Ethan and Mia, both fighting their obvious attraction to each other.

This was quiet a slow burning read and I would suggest the new reader takes this into consideration and pace at this rate. Not everything will happen in the first 25%, and in fact the storyline actually picks up in the latter half of the book. However I am sure everything will be revealed in the next book Complicated.

A good solid read that engages the reader to continue with the series. Three and a half stars.

M. M. Koenig was born and raised in Minnesota. She now lives in the Twin Cities area with her loving dog Marley. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology.
