Though worlds apart, when fate brings Beth and David together in London in the summer of 1979, sparks fly. After Beth receives upsetting news from home, she finds herself drawn to David’s warm character, and an all-consuming love develops. Theirs is the kind of love one never forgets, and as Beth’s stay in London nears the end, the young devoted couple must face the inevitable question: will their romance fade with the passing of summer or will they realize their promise of never letting go?

This is the first book in a four part series.

Beth is an American student and in 1979 her parents take her on an extended holiday to London to stay with her aunt and uncle whilst her father teaches through the summer at the university. This is not good news to Beth as it takes her away from her boyfriend, Rick. However things haven’t been going so great for them as Rick is adding more pressure on Beth to takes things further than second base.

When in England, Beth finds she gets on well with her English cousin and finds herself becoming more attracted to a local – David, who is hot and plays the guitar. The story then evolves about her summer of love with David.

This was a sweet first love story with all the intricacies and angst that entails for a young teenager. It takes place at the end of the seventies when the punk rock era was abound in England so it was engaging to be taken back to my childhood days. Being from England there was some minor blips with English and American phrases/words such as her English cousin calling the streets, blocks but other than these tiny issues it was a nice easy read. A good start to a series that delivers the journey of Beth and her growing up.

For those that love to read a romance without the need for pages of erotic sex, then this would definitely be one to read. Three and a half stars.

Anne Carol grew up reading, writing, and listening to English rock bands, obsessing over one in particular. Continuing her fascination with rock stars, she married a bass player and they now have two sons, also budding musicians. Besides reading, writing, and music, she also loves traveling, going to dance class, watching teen dramas, and exploring social media websites. Anne lives in Northern California, where she enjoys wine and chocolate every night as she works on her next novel.
