Review
This is the fourth book in the Manwhore series but can be read as a standalone.
At face value Callan Carmichael is the epitome of Chicago’s most eligible bachelor. He is suave, smooth, sophisticated, can have his pick of any woman he wants and owns a multi-million dollar company. He is also Olivia Roth’s brother’s best friend and her new boss. She is therefore resolved to stay well away from him and prove to her family and others that even though her brother got her a foot in the door as an intern, she can progress under her own ability. She has a life's plan and by aged 28 she will be running her own company.
Livvy’s first day goes well but needing a little space to relieve a bit of the stress that built up over the day, she makes her way to the rooftop where she meets up with a sexy cool guy who she shares a cigarette with. Little does she know what that innocent sharing of a cigarette will eventually lead to?
Both are unaware of who the other is but once the truth is revealed all bets are off and this innocent flirting just took on a whole new ball game of the forbidden. But as they say what is forbidden is all the more enticing.
WOW. This was an initial slow build of tempting and heart pounding passion. The reader is kept in suspense and able to guess who they both are to each other, so you can see where this is leading. Katy Evans is the master at delivering the ultimate alpha hero with a hidden inner shell of insecurity and hesitancy when faced with the unknown. Callan’s feelings for Livvy catch him unawares and once he finds out who she is he still cannot stop himself from this beautiful forbidden chemistry they have going on. Livvy is all for keeping their secret assignations, as this is only sex, yes? She will be leaving in a few months so why not keep their affair going on. But then things get a little more complicated when other feelings besides passion get brought into the mix.
This was a captivating story of lust and temptation with minimal angst but a whole lot of passion going on. It was LUSH and I just could not put my kindle down. I’m ashamed to say I have not read any of the other books in this series yet but this will soon be rectified. Even so it was easy to know who was who and what they were to each other so for fans of the series they will also love as they catch up with the other characters in the series.
This is a definite five star read that I highly recommend if you like your romance stories to be hotter than hell with a dash of sublime heart pounding passionate love. Fabulous!
