Review

Merger is the continuation in the Takeover duet and cannot be read as a standalone, Acquisition needs to be read first.

The story picks up in the midst of the ‘situation’ Lauren found herself in with her crazy ex. The conclusion of this episode seemed to have been resolved far too quickly with little or no repercussions. The business activity took a major step backward in the storyline in this book and seemed a little glossed over whereas I thought it should have remained centre stage as it was a fundamental element that put a block in the most essential parts of Antonio and Lauren’s budding romance and relationship.

The romance element though continued to be passionate and enthralling. I loved this pair between the sheets and the romance was just bliss (Chelle Bliss!). I really loved the first book and after reading this second book I feel it could have been made into a longer book to conclude all in one novel.  Don’t get me wrong as the filling out with all the family in Italy was a nice touch but took away the drama from the boardroom and the bedroom. I was also hoping for some tension involving Antonio’s twin with his dodgy mafia dealings.

The ending although nice and giving a HEA, felt a little rushed and ended abruptly. I needed more and maybe an epilogue would have satisfied my yearning for more. Overall though I did enjoy the romance and loved Antonio and Lauren. Four stars.
