Review

This is the first book in the new series, Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team which is a next generation connected series to the Moonshine Task Force series. This is a friends to lovers romance.

Stella and Ransom have known each other all their lives but having now reached their late twenties, something has changed and their friendship has turned into so much more.

I liked that Stella was a little older than Ransom (two years) but that Ransom was still the typical alpha hero we all love to fall for. Throw in his cute but hard working dog, Rambo and the three just clicked as a little family.

I’m not usually a fan of next gen books and I wasn’t aware this new series was until I started reading. The connection between Stella and Ransom wasn’t tangible enough to establish their new relationship for me and I would have loved lots more angst and soul searching on the switch for them from lifelong friends to soul mates. The overuse of the nickname Stella had for Ransom (handsome) got a little irritating too at times. However it was a sweet romance and I loved the interaction with the older couples from the MTF series and how the kids had grown up.

I’m a big fan of the MTF but even I got a little lost with all the names and couples and trying to recall who was with who. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend reading this as a standalone series to the new reader. Plus MTF is a fabulous series!

Overall this was an enjoyable read with some elements missing for my personal likes but as someone who is not a fan of next generation reads this one kept me involved. As always the characters were easy to fall for and fall for again with the older couples. This was a 3.5 star read for me but rounded up to 4 stars.
