Review
This is a Christmas novella in the Portland series but can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of this series but this gave me a taster, so needing to read the other books now! Matt and Tana are strangers travelling a long journey when strangely they keep meeting up on the way to their destination. Something magical happens in the air that keep bringing these two together. This was a little of an insta romance which is nothing to be sniffed at, especially at Christmas time when special things can happen. The read was very atmospheric with the road trip and the inclement weather adding to the Christmas theme. This was all about love and family and how family can be a multitude of meanings to all. I loved that Tana was a bit of a cougar (seven years age gap I recall) but Matt is an all take charge kind of man, it was easy to see how Tana fell for him. Both have some family issues to sort out and I liked that they were both there for each other when drama came knocking at the door to their little love bubble. A quick and engaging read that put in in the cosy Christmassy mood on a cold and wintery day. Lovely. Just lovely. Four stars. *ARC kindly provided by the author to Foxylutely Books |
Freya Barker loves writing about ordinary people with extraordinary stories.
Driven to make her books about 'real' people; with characters who are perhaps less than perfect, but just as deserving of romance, thrills and chills, and their own slice of happy.
A recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None”, and Finalist for the Kindle Book Award with “From Dust”, Freya has not slowed down.
She continues to add to her rapidly growing collection of published novels as she spins story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!
Thank you so much!
