Release Tour and Review | Goodbye, Kate by Nicola Haken | #NEW #Review #RomanticSuspense

Title: Goodbye, Kate
Author: Nicola Haken
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: 29 October 2018

Crime families and mob wars only exist in the movies. Betrayal. Violence. Murder. They don’t happen to ordinary people.

Right?

Wrong.

For Lincoln Hollis, this is his world, and there isn’t a clapperboard in sight. A trained killer and advocate of justice, he’s been sent to unravel the neat little bow tied around Kate Fletcher’s perfect life, exposing her to the brutal truths she’s been so meticulously shielded from, before delivering the ultimate punishment for her family’s sins.

There’s just one problem. They’re his family’s sins, too, and he must make a choice.

Who will he say goodbye to first?

I have read books by this author before under the M/M Romance genre so was intrigued when I saw this was an M/F romantic suspense.
The storyline packed a punch with plenty of twists and turns and a huge curveball thrown in near the end. When I started reading the first part I found it was pleasant enough but then boom – things started to pick up at a pace and the drama was unfolding at speed.

Kate and Lincoln came together under a hidden agenda unbeknownst to Kate at the time. When the truth is revealed then the pair need to re-evaluate what their relationship will develop into. It kept me on my toes trying to second guess throughout the book.

As expected for this author the writing and storytelling were good although there were a few parts where the storyline dragged a bit but this soon evened out. I found the name changing a bit off putting but could understand why the author adopted this into the plot. The only other small niggle I had was that Lincoln became a little too ‘soft’ at the end and I would have preferred to keep his tough persona and keep his tenderness times sparse. But that’s just me and my weirdness.

Overall though I enjoyed the plot, the characters and the drama. For me the drama overtook the romance but I can say it actually fit better the way it was aimed. A good solid read I would definitely recommend to others. Four stars.

Nicola lives in Rochdale, England with her husband and four children. She is the author of multi-genre romance, including the Amazon international bestseller, Broken. When she is not busy playing with her imaginary friends (or talking about them with real life friends) she can usually be found carrying out her ordinary mum/housewife/all-round-slave duties, bingeing on boxsets, drinking too much Pepsi Max, or fussing over her menagerie of pets. Oh, and if the kids ever ask, she moonlights as the Pink Power Ranger while they're sleeping…
