Nabbed in New Zealand by Christine Edwards
Synopsis:
Taking a break from her job at an art gallery in Charleston, South Carolina, Valla Denier escapes on a week-long camping tour of New Zealand with a small group of companions and two skilled guides. Valla is enchanted by the wild beauty of the South Island and Kaikoura Beach, as well as the local men. After catching the eye of a rugged, drop-dead-gorgeous man in a café, she is shocked to run into him later that evening at a karaoke bar. Setting her shyness aside, she serenades the stranger with a seductive tune. She never imagines the lyrics would be taken literally.
Later that evening, Valla is taken from her campsite and wakes up in a strange room. Her captor is the man from the bar, Brocan Judge, a six foot five wall of muscle with piercing, cobalt blue eyes. He is not responsible for her abduction; his friend has delivered Valla as a gift, and repairing the situation is not as simple as it sounds.
Valla soon learns that Judge is a Dom, intent on punishing her for her willful ways. Even more surprising is Valla’s reaction to him. When he offers her the choice to stay or leave, she must decide how far down the submissive path she is willing to travel. But trust has never been Valla’s strong suit. Will she be able to set aside her inhibitions and give in to the strong hand she has secretly craved, or will doubt trump her growing desire?
Excerpt:
“And now, ladies and gents, hot on her awesome friend’s heels, we have another lovely American named Valla who has come to sing for us all the way from a state called South Carolina. Let’s have a big Kiwi welcome for Valla!”
Oh. My. God. Fuuuuccccck ….
At this moment in time, Mick’s alcohol-related prediction has come true. Thank goodness for the invention of strong beer. Here goes nothing ….
“Step on up, little lady. Good God, do you all agree that these Americans here tonight all look like they stepped right off the pages of Maxim, boys? Wow! Here’s the mic, little Valla, and I’m excited because I haven’t played this terrific song for anyone in quite a while. Now I have to ask, is there any lucky bloke in particular you would like to dedicate this to tonight? If not, I’m sure there will be plenty of them waiting for you when you finish.”
I dip my head and say into the mic, “Let’s just say that he knows exactly who he is … and the feeling is mutual.”
“Woooooh!” the dj and drunken crowd call out. “I suppose we have a little game of clue going on with this song then! Have at it, little gal.”
Fiona Apple’s “Criminal” fills the room. I know the song by heart and the suggestive, coy lyrics seem perfectly fitting for the lust that is mounting in me for this complete stranger. Just as the first sensual words fall from my lips, I land him with a ‘give it to me now, bad boy’ heated stare. He about drops his beer as every muscle in his body goes as tense as a two-by-four.
I let the opening line flow from my lips, letting him know what a bad girl I’ve been, as I watch him innocently through my long lashes. I thought that I would have trouble getting through it but the way he’s watching me, nearly transfixed, makes me feel as if we are the only two people left on the planet. Two people who want each other with a tangible passion.
My confidence is building as I continue on, swinging my hips to and fro. My long hair swishes across my lower back as I croon on about needing to be taught a lesson by a man like him. The submissive suggestion is sinfully blatant.
Even at this distance I can make out the thick ridge of his impressive cock straining against the front of his jeans. Or maybe my imagination is in overdrive …. My heart rate thunders as Fiona’s luscious lyrics pour out of my mouth, sung only for him, my sexy New Zealand mystery man.

This is one lustful read and I need to be on a plane to New Zealand, now! This is my first read of a Christine Edwards book and as soon as I finished I was on the hunt for more! She certainly knows how to write a smoking hot alpha.
Valla Denier (love that name!) is a shy but adventurous woman and she is on a camping holiday in New Zealand where she has soon made firm friends with her campmates. When they visit a quaint café her glance takes her to a gorgeous specimen of a man that she can’t take her eyes off. Later that evening, still berating herself for not saying anything to the man, she is at a local bar when she sees him again. After a few drinks she takes courage and steps up to the mic to do some serious karaoke and sings a seductive song that appears to have affected the man big time.
Brocan Judge (yet another great name!) aka Judge is a local and a dom. He is entranced by the beauty he saw earlier today and now again on the stage singing her intentions to him. When she goes to the bathroom they ‘bump’ into each other but just as the sizzling tension starts to erupt, her campmates interrupt to say they are heading back to camp. Valla puts it down to another interlude that was never to be. Later that night though she is rudely awakened, drugged and kidnapped! When she awakes she finds herself in a bedroom with the smoking hot guy sat staring at her intently. Who could believe he would become her captor?
There is a lot more to the hows and whys she has been kidnapped and also who did it. But what happens next is an amazingly sexy and intense read. There are some mild BDSM elements but nothing too extreme and actually enhance the seductive and dramatic development of Judge and Valla’s relationship. When Judge gives her the option to stay or go but if she stays she knows the intent, she is at a quandary what to do and when she does take action the outcome is certainly not what both were expecting.
This was a fabulous gritty and scintillating read with plenty of emotional tirades that the reader is taken through. I certainly could not get enough and I loved everything about this book. I am a definite new fan of Christine Edwards and this book deservedly gets a five star rating from me.
