REVIEW:
My Rating = four stars
I did not know anything about this author or previous books
so when I started reading I was pleasantly surprised. It was like a breath of
fresh air. This was not a rainbows and unicorns skipping in the sunset type of
read. It was an earthy with a reality kicking punch type of read that first had
me raising my eyebrow then a satisfied grin was plastered on me for the
remainder of my read.
It’s a story of a man – Morgan (yes that was confusing at
first) who is going through a marriage break up which was sprung upon him when
his wife of over twelve years suddenly upped and left him, taking their four
year old daughter with her. After a period of self-pity and sense of loss, he
picks himself up and begins a new avenue which leads him to instant status of
published author – well self-published, which opens reams of possibilities which
Morgan translates as opportunities for getting laid! His wife then requests
they attend marriage guidance (for why, who knows) which leads to some funny
incidents with the tasks they are asked to undertake by the marriage guidance
counsellor.
I loved the scenes of Morgan with his daughter and found
them quite touching but for the most part it was a humorous tale interwoven
with touches of sadness. In short it covered real life with believable actions
and believable characters.
The plot was original and unique and I enjoyed the ‘story
within a story’ in this book. A highly enjoyable read which you really need to
read to experience for yourself. You won’t regret it.
AUTHOR BIO:
Morgan Parker is the pen name for a shy and introverted former banker. Because he could never balance his cash at the end of the banking day, he made up stories in order to keep his job. None of those stories was Textual Encounters, which is great because readers will discover a truly unique and original romance that has never been told before.
