This is the third book in the Men of Halfway House series
and is Cole’s story.
We first met Cole in book 2 where he came across as the
cheeky immature chappie but I just knew he was hiding a deeper persona and here
we find out just that.
Cole has been at the Halfway House for a while and is given
a placement at Calloway’s garage who deal with high end vehicles. Cole is in
his element to be surrounded by such beautiful cars that speed as well as
earning his way to reach his goal of getting the keys to Hunter’s car which is
promised to him IF he behaves himself and gets back on the straight and narrow.
When he is introduced to the owner of
Calloway’s Garage, Ty, he finds himself with something else to inspire him to
do good.
Ty has been recuperating from a terrible accident and
getting over from the death of his parents. He has become a shell of his former
self but when he is faced with the exuberant charming young man his road to
recovery takes off unbeknownst to himself.
I just love the whole ‘opposites attract’ in my romances and
the way Cole and Ty are, certainly fit that spot. Cole is the feisty joker who
has a quick wit and a response for every question thrown at him. He is hiding a
guilt and a deep sadness from being apart from his family who are very close
knit. He has always felt an underachiever and his overcompensating for this
lead him to a live a life of car crime and eventually prison. His attraction to Ty is instant and
he gradually chips away at Ty’s reluctance to be social and let himself go.
Ty tries to stay hidden and he feels he cannot develop
anything with this whiz kid Cole who is an amazing mechanic and sexy as sin man.
After all wouldn’t Cole just run when he sees that Ty has nothing to offer? I
just love a wounded soul waiting to be rescued and Cole is definitely the one
to rescue Ty.
The storyline is very character driven and not as angst
filled as the previous books. The steam is also less but at the times it does happen it is heart stopping and emotive. I did love the high drama car chase
too, I felt I was sat in the seat with Cole!
It was lovely to catch up with growly Julian and caring
Matt from book one. The interaction with Julian and Cole was also tear jerking. Who knew the
big growly man was such a cuddly bear? Well yes we know he is with Matt but to
see that with Cole and the big brother act was so sweet.
Cole’s family were fabulous and great supporting secondary
characters. I love this family!
But for me the best parts were the tender moments between Cole and Ty, with
the hair touching and the ‘My-Ty’ – aww so adoring.
Another great addition to the series and another winner from
Jaime Reese. Four and a half stars.

Cole raised an eyebrow and half smiled. "Oh, I've
got a lot of tricks I can show you." He smiled at the rush of color to
Ty's cheeks, loving the way Ty always reacted to his teasing.

"You do realize you're an HR nightmare," Ty
said, looking at Cole with that glimmer in his eye.

"Human Resources. Sexual harassment, all
that," Ty said, trying to look serious and indifferent, but failing
miserably.

Cole belly-laughed so loud it echoed in the shop. He
then stilled, straightened his shoulders, and mocked a serious tone. "I
could, of course, be completely professional and proper with you, Mr. Calloway,
if that is your preference," he said, mimicking Matt's formal tone.

Ty turned to face him, the mock seriousness

"My army of superheroes and I would be as well." He bit back a smile
and bowed.

Ty's low rumble-laugh shot straight to Cole's dick.
Cole straightened. "Admit it, you like me."

fingertips together with only a sliver of a gap between them. "Maybe a
