Author: Louise Bay
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: May 11, 2016

Blurb

The moment I laid eyes on the new photographer at work, I had his number. Cocky, arrogant and super wealthy—women were eating out of his hand as soon as his tight ass crossed the threshold of our office.

When we were forced to go to Paris together for an assignment, I wasn’t interested in his seductive smile, his sexy accent or his dirty laugh. I wasn’t falling for his charms.

Until I did.

Until Paris.

Until he was kissing me and I was wondering how it happened. Until he was dragging his lips across my skin and I was hoping for more. Paris does funny things to a girl and he might have gotten me naked.

But Paris couldn’t last forever.

Review

This review is based on the re-released version 11 May 2016. This novel was previously released under What The Lightning Sees: The Complete Series.

Haven is a career driven and focused woman to such an extent that outsiders see her as dowdy and prickly. What they don’t see is the fun loving person underneath her work armour of bland clothes and her golden tresses hidden in a severe bun. She aspires to be the deputy editor at the magazine she currently works for. But she has competition so when a top story is up for grabs she is surprised her boss picked her. Along with the assignment is a stand in photographer, a friend of her boss. She presumes Harry is of the same creed, a spoilt entitled douche. How wrong could she be?

Jake aka Harry is happy to help his old friend but the woman assigned to write the story is not at all what he expected. At first meeting and her attitude toward him alienates him towards her but the more he spends time with her the more he starts to unravel from this prickly beauty. He cannot understand how she hides her understated beauty and he also realises the frequent hook ups he has with society beauties are not really his type after all.

This was a real eye opener and an instant engaging storyline. I liked how the characters gradually unravelled into something entirely different to what I was expecting. I loved the turnaround in how Jake and Haven loosened their stand off towards each other and gave into the chemistry and passion that was unmistakable between them.

The storyline did have some plotlines that have been covered in numerous romances, especially the ex-girlfriend and her evil plans to break up the happy couple. There was also some very very light BDSM action which really came out of nowhere but also didn’t really go anywhere so not really sure what that was supposed to be meaning, maybe to show that Jake and Haven were made for each other? It was only a minor squint in the story as overall I really loved and enjoyed this. I had already read Indigo Nights (which is the third book and this being the first in the series) so it was good to see where Beth had come from.

An entertaining sexy read with lots of erotic passion and romance with a touch of angst to give a well-rounded story. Recommend this 4.25 stars read.

Author Bio

USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels - the kind she likes to read. Her books include the novels Faithful and Hopeful and the novella series' The Empire State Series, What the Lightning Sees and Calling Me. The novels and together the series are stand-alone although there are some overlapping characters.

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.

Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn't have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!
