This is the second book in the Jinx Tattoos series and is a standalone read. There was little involvement of Jinx tattoo shop in the story although the characters from the first book do make small appearances. To me this was an MC read as Snake is VP of the Wild Ones MC.
Xavier Kolton, aka Snake, has been through dark times and is still in recovery. He attends a grief counselling group on the anniversary of the death of his wife and child to a hate crime. It is through this group that he meets Estelle and becomes her support.
Estelle is trying to retain some semblance of a life after her husband is killed after being caught in a tornado and she also loses her unborn child. She is referred to the grief group and it is here she sets eyes on the rough, tough, tattooed biker who is so different to her late husband. However she finds herself being able to speak freely with Snake and not hold anything back. In return Snake feels an affinity with Estelle and the two strike up a friendship and support of each other. It is when things take a different path between the pair when things start to heat up.
This was a different story as to what I was expecting and I thought there would have been more around the tattoo shop. However that said, I still really loved this tale of loss and recovery. As always Shyla Colt can weave a steamy and passionate story that engages the reader to devour the pages. I also loved how the relationship was believable in that the build-up was gradual and flowed towards such an intensity.
I instantly fell for Snake and I wish this was a series of the MC as I would love to learn more about the brothers of the MC. Although I liked the first book, I loved this one much more mainly for the connection between the two main characters but also for the depth of the story and the realism of the storyline. Lots of heat but also lots of heart. Fabulous. Four and a half stars.
