Nicole trusted Wyatt with her heart once. She won’t make the same mistake twice.
A broken-down car destroys Nicole DeMonde’s plan to be cool and self-sufficient when she returns to her hometown for her brother’s wedding. The cop who comes to her rescue is none other than local hottie Wyatt Truman, who slept with her then dumped her when they were teens. She has no choice but to accept his help. However, she knows better than to trust him with her heart twice.
Wyatt is determined to earn Nicole’s forgiveness and make amends for his callous past. Once he lays eyes on her, he can’t help wanting more than forgiveness. In fact, his intentions are starting to bear a suspicious resemblance to the forever variety.
If she can’t avoid Wyatt, a one-night stand might be just the thing Nicole needs to work him out of her system. Or will her recovery plan destroy her heart once and for all?

“Stay in the truck. I’ll run in and grab your things,” he said, as he pulled into his driveway.

“Aren’t you going to invite me in for coffee?”

“No.” Fortunately, she didn’t know how much he wanted to invite her in. He had two nights and one day to get through. He’d protect her and send her away again. At the very least, she deserved that much.

“We could skip the coffee part.” She batted her eyelashes and laughed.

The laugh sucker-punched him. “I’m not going to make a move on you.”

Tomorrow, they’d be in-laws of a sort. He wouldn’t do anything to upset his sister on her wedding day. Having Zane beat the hell out of him for the things he’d do with Nicole if she walked inside his house again would definitely upset Julianne.

“Lucky for you, I’m looking forward to being the one who initiates all the moves.” She trailed her fingernails along his arm.

“I’m trying to make up for the past, not repeat it. Stay here.” He ran into the house and closed himself inside. Leaning against the door, he sucked in a deep breath. He never thought twice about doing the right thing on a daily basis, but, with Nicole, it took all his willpower.

Once calmness and control settled over him, he returned to the truck and stowed her luggage. As he resettled behind the wheel, she adjusted something on the rearview mirror.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Giving you a souvenir.” She shot him a smug look.

The glow of the outside lights revealed a silhouette of pale lacy fabric hanging from the mirror. He nearly choked on his tongue. “You took off your underwear?”

Review
The second book in The Bad Boys of Regret Hollow series, focuses on Nicole and Wyatt whose siblings were featured in the first book.
This follows along a similar vein to the first book in so much it is a second chance at romance, some fifteen years later.

Wyatt used Nicole and after he had taken her V card he dumps her in an attempt to get back at Zane who had hurt his sister. What he didn’t account for was the hurt and damage to Nicole that she has carried for years. Throw in a drunk as a father who had no time for his kids and you have a classic case of abandonment issues. Nicole has gone on through life focusing on her career and not letting anyone get close. Now back in town for her brother’s wedding, the first person she runs into is Wyatt.

Wyatt is an upstanding figure in the town and the local cop. He has always regretted what he did to Nicole and hopes now she is back is town he can earn her forgiveness.

This was a quick read and although the storyline was intriguing, I did feel the build-up of the romance and the connection between Nicole and Wyatt was not established. I would have liked more intensity and passion to make me understand why this woman was quick to want to jump in with him after the way he treated her in the past. It appeared this was what she intended but then the next sentence she was all forgiving of Wyatt and then her father.
It was good how Wyatt did redeem himself though in this book as in the first he was totally unlikeable. Overall an entertaining read but just needed a bit more angst and chemistry. Three stars.
