Title: Fix Me Not
Series: The Fix #2
Author: Carey Heywood
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: 22 September 2017

Paige Sullivan's life is a train wreck. In a matter of months she lost her business, her swanky apartment, and her big city life. Now she's stuck in Nowhere, New Hampshire, sleeping on her mom's couch. If that wasn't bad enough, she's forced to do odd jobs for money. She has a plan though, and once she's saved enough, she's out of there. That is, as long as she doesn't murder her sexy new employer first.

Asher Thompson is the ruggedly handsome hermit of the Thompson clan. Tall, ridiculously sexy despite his beard, and annoyingly aloof, his main concern is his privacy. He fills his days with his work as a carpenter and the peaceful solitude of his lake house. A peaceful solitude that vanished the moment Paige Sullivan stormed into his life, hell-bent on driving him crazy.

The problem is, opposites attract and each time they cross paths she works her way further under his skin.

“Here,” Paige says, passing me a water and a plate of fries through my window.

I’m back in the parking lot of the Moose tonight, parked right next to Millie’s Explorer.
“Are you trying to drug me?” I had asked.
She shrugs her slender shoulders. “Consider it a truce.”
I’ve finished all of the fries and am still working on my drink when she returns an hour or so later.
“Shouldn't you be playing with your wood?”
I choke on my water.
“This your idea of a truce?” I ask, once I’m done coughing.
“Humor me,” she says, leaning against my door. “You hired my mom so you wouldn't have to leave your land. Now you're leaving it every day to stalk me. What gives?”
My head jerks back. “I am not stalking you.”
She presses her lips together before a bubble of laughter escapes. “What would you call it?”
I frown partly at her question and more so at the way she's acting. “Why are you being nice to me?”

This is the second book in The Fix series which can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the first book, Fix Her Up as I loved it!

Paige Sullivan is down on her luck, having lost her business she is back in her small home town, staying at her mother's house and sleeping on the couch. She has never felt good enough, even with her successful business so to hear her mother continually gushing about Asher Thompson who she cleaned and did shopping for, just made Paige despise him without even knowing him. When her mother has an accident, it is left to Paige to pick up the slack and cover for her mother’s duties. This brings her in close proximity to Asher that she goes out of her way to try and avoid. But little by little this enigmatic man starts to have an impact on her that she could never envisage.

Asher Thompson is a private and guarded man. He is the exact opposite of his brothers and sister who are all outgoing and social but Asher prefers his own company and to be left with his carpentry business to focus on. He lives in a beautiful remote part of the small town near the lake and that just suits him perfectly. He only lets certain people such as his family come stay at the cabin on his grounds but when Paige starts to visit to do the housework, he becomes unsettled and at first he cannot fathom what it is. Little by little though this headstrong prickly beauty has him yearning for things her thought he would never want.

This was another fantastic slow build romance that I love about this series. I was eager to read all about Asher as he was an enigmatic character in the previous book so it was delightful to get to dig deep and unravel his complexities. He was a deep but sexy man who revealed a sparkling wit and wisdom. He also put bossy Paige in her place (when she let him) I loved how this pair who started out as enemies eventually moved to be lovers and they were hot!

The more I read of this series the more I love and I can’t wait for more. I highly recommend this series to all. Five stars.
