A new duet, Takeover, starts with this spellbinding read, Acquisition.
Lauren is flying high as the CEO of Intersteller Corp and her company is on the cusp of a major development. However on the same day she receives the news of a possible hostile takeover by rivals Cozza Industries. After a long hard day she stops off at her favourite bar for a wind down and a drink. When she meets sexy stranger, Lou, he sets off a chain reaction in her that she cannot say no to a one night stand. After an explosive night of passion, Lauren resolves to put it behind her and focus on the main target, her business and its hot commodity which will make them billions.
When her celebrations are interrupted by a visit from the Cozza executives, she is shocked to find that Lou is no other than Antonio Forte!
Antonio is also shocked to find his ‘Elizabeth’ is Lauren Bradley and cannot fathom how his two worlds have imploded on each other. However never one to back down from a challenge he tries to persuade Lauren that business and pleasure can be separated. The following week is taken up with Lauren trying to keep her distance from Antonio which she finds is a losing battle but when he makes her an offer she cannot refuse as she will find out who the mole is at her company, she feels she has little choice but to give into the feeling she has building for Antonio. An intense and passionate weekend evolves but can they step back onto opposing sides once the weekend is over?
I loved this book and I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of emotion and drama that Chelle Bliss has woven in this fantastic storyline. There was plenty of tension, passion and suspense with an almighty curveball at the end, leaving the reader eager for the second part of the duet right now. I like the route the author has taken and moved away from her lighter romances (and the lovely Gallos!) which is a welcomed change. Although Antonio was on the cusp of being a little creepy, it was quickly pulled back to his enigmatic stance. Result!
A definite must read and not too long to wait for the concluding part (next month) which I am certainly looking forward to. Four and a half stars.
