“What do you do when you write down all your secrets? No…that’s not enough. What do you do when you write down all your secrets and the one person who should never read them does?
I’ll tell you what you do.
You hope.”
REN
Ren didn’t know the meaning of love until he took Della for his own.
To begin with he hated her, but as the months bled into years, he learned the opposite of hate, dedicating his life to giving her everything.
Every sacrifice, every gift, he gave wholeheartedly.
But then love turned to lust and ruined everything.
DELLA
I was stupid to write my secrets down, but I’d been stupid before so it was nothing new.
I couldn’t blame him, hate him, fix him.
I tried to move on without him.
But no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to delete the secrets I’d written.
Until something happened.
Until he came back and read my stupid secrets.
And nothing was the same after that.

Review
This is the climatic conclusion to the absolutely beautiful
Ribbon duet. This isn’t just a love story with a touch of taboo which were my
initial thoughts before reading. Oh no it is so much more than that. This is a
life story and one not to be missed.
When I picked up this second part of the duet I was fairly
sure in what was going to happen. How wrong could I be? I knew it was going to
be emotional but it was intensively so, I was a wreck of emotions from the
highest highs to the darkest despair. It was epic!
Della and Ren have gone through so much in the first part of
the duet you just could not imagine that they could take any more. But this
poignant conclusion resonated with me so deep it will stay with me for a long
time. The strength of their love for each other goes even deeper when they
finally submit to the change in their relationship. Along with that comes the
guilt and the second guessing, the secretive entanglement of soul shattering
proportions. But the main element to take away was two soul mates who were
destined to be together and yes their meeting was of an unusual nature but one
that was meant to be. After all if they hadn’t gone through all those life
experiences together they would not be who they finally were when their fought
for love finally came to fruition.
I was emotionally invested in this poignant and compelling
life story as each layer was cleverly revealed with every heart wrenching and breathtaking word. Even though I knew what was coming after Della had written a warning
in her life book to the reader, I just had to keep reading. I’ll admit I had to
walk away a few times from my kindle to regather my need to carry on and seek
the ending I was not ready for. Yes there were some absolutely beautiful
chapters full of happiness and love I knew there was more despair to come but
that it would ultimately give me that sought for HEA, wouldn't it? After all this couple had
not had the easiest of life events to date so I was waiting for the hammer to
fall. But this is what I loved about this book. It was a story of life and life
has a way at throwing challenges at you to strengthen the person you ultimately
become and this was the same for Della and Ren.
The writing was unprecedented and one that made me feel as
if I was there sat in the forest with Della and Ren that I could actually feel
the breeze and hear the rustle of the trees and smell the earth beneath.
Fabulous storytelling. A wonderful life journey with all its richness and joy
and along with that the painful rawness that was so compelling to read. I got
so much from this book that was more than just a story telling and that is
something that I will treasure for a long, long time.

Excerpt
The fallen papers crunched beneath my boot as I shifted my weight, leaning into her, seeking an answer. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
She flinched, her eyes closing beneath an avalanche of pain.
This hurt.
Everything hurt.
“Della…please.” My calloused thumbs caressed her silky-soft skin, catching on her young perfection with my older imperfection.
Ten years separated us.
Ten years was an eternity when she was a babe and I was a boy, but now…it no longer held such power. I refused to let it because I didn’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t touch her the way I was touching her now.
She laughed quietly, full of torture and tragedy. “I did tell you. In a roundabout way.”
“You didn’t.”
“But I did.” She dared meet my eyes. “I never understood how I could touch you, hug you, kiss you, and you never knew. I didn’t know how I could hide my jealousy when you were with Cassie or later with your one-night stands. I lay awake at night analysing every sentence I said to you, amazed that you never heard what I’d been shouting for longer than I could remember.”
