Mason “Menace” Harrison

“Single and ready to mingle……”

Those are the words above every picture of almost every female that strikes my interest on this dating app my son talked me into getting. After being a single dad for seventeen years, I’m ready to spread my wings, just not with most of the co-eds who keep hitting on me and calling me daddy.

Now that Caleb’s in his Senior year of high school, I feel like I can let go of
the iron-clad control I’ve had on myself without his Mom in our lives. I’ve
enjoyed raising him, love the relationship we have, and while he went off the rails for a bit last year, we’re closer than we’ve ever been. He’s got a full ride to the University of Alabama, and I’ve settled into my spot with the
Moonshine Task Force.

But my son doesn’t warm my bed, he isn’t someone I can share my dreams with, and he’s not the person I want to grow old with by my side. I’m not sure who that is yet, but the smokin’ hot lady going by the name BeachBum83 definitely has every single bit of my interest.

Karina Holland

“Looking for a good time, maybe more…..”

Those were the lamest words I ever typed in my life, but it was the best I had for the dating app my friend, Violet talked me into joining. I didn’t have any high hopes for myself. As a High School English teacher, I’m sick of pervy Dad’s hitting on me when they come in to discuss their child’s lack of
motivation to read the classics and apply themselves.

Until the day Mason Harrison walks into my classroom. I had no idea Caleb’s Dad was the man I met off that dating app who showed me how flexible I really am in the back of his Jeep. Within minutes of the parent/teacher conference he proved the sparks weren’t one-time only when we christened my desk.

Mason and Caleb? They touch a part of my heart that no one’s ever touched before, and when a threat from the past shows up, I prove just how tough I really am.

Review
Menace is the fifth book in the Moonshine Task Force series and one I have been on tenterhooks waiting to read.

Mason ‘Menace’ Harrison is a single father of one, and since his son’s birth he has been his main focus. There has been little relationship for Menace but more of a quick hook up now and again. However now that his son is in his senior year he feels the need for a partner, someone he can connect with. Hence why he finds himself on a dating app and agreeing a date with Karina.

Karina is new to the town and with encouragement from her new friends she has taken a chance at dating. However when she meets Mason for the first time the connection is unmissable and the end of their first date is explosive. Running scared from these intense feelings Karina takes off and doesn’t respond to Mason’s texts. After all she’s not comfortable being with a guy who has a child.

Fast forward and imagine her surprise when one of her senior students brings his Dad in to speak about his job on the MTF who turns out to be Mason! After another hot interlude in her classroom, the two decide to see how things go. And boy do they GO! HOT!

I really love this series and this book was no exception. Menace has been the one in the background who I was dying to know more about. There is nothing like a caring Dad to make me swoon and having witnessed some of the emotional stuff Mason went through with his son in previous books. I love that Menace is this growly alpha man on the outside but on the inside he was closely in touch with his feelings. He just makes me melt.

As for Karina, she was a woman who had been through some tough times and she knew her own mind. I wouldn’t say she is a ball buster but she stands her ground. I love the connection between the two and there are no unnecessary angst (apart from the beginning when she ignored Mason as she thought he had a young child) However there was one part that frustrated the heck out of me and it was constant throughout the book that took away some of the enjoyment for me. It was Karina referring to Mason as ‘Big Guy’ Ugh! Even saying it now annoys me. It sounded like a bad porn dialogue and not an endearment. If I could have extracted that from my kindle I would for sure!

Overall though this was another fantastic addition to the series but the annoying ‘Big Guy’ knocks my rating down from a five to a four stars.
