Suffering from a dark past, he lives his life with passion but no purpose. She planned everything…except him.
Billie Price has always had a plan for her life. On the surface, it all appears on track. But there has always been something missing. Even though she has a purpose, there is no passion to fuel it. Then she meets a mysterious stranger with a dark past. Except Evan Wright is all kinds of wrong—the tattoo-clad, guitar-strumming, Harley-riding modern day drifter is definitely not the right man for her. Yet she finds herself drawn to him and The Lost Souls’ Club—the eclectic bar where he works. As all her carefully strung plans unravel, Evan is there to comfort her. As their attraction grows, Billie can’t resist the temptation, even though Evan will leave in the fall. At least they have all summer together, not to mention the man knows how to narrate the perfect sex scene for the book she’s writing. But as she crashes into Evan’s world, Billie has to ask herself—can passion prevail when there is no purpose?
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of anal sex
Warning: This book contains one raunchy tattoo-clad musician who can rock his tongue as well as a guitar!
Publisher Note: This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone novel, as can any of the books in the In Other Words Series.

The Way I Write
I’m what’s called a pantser in this industry. In other words, I fly by the seat of my pants (usually old jeans or sweats). Many times, I’ve wished I was a plotter. Plotters are people I admire. They have outlines, charts, and maps. They have a sense of purpose, know where they are going, and just how to get there. I think all writers are explorers in a sense. In this analogy, I am more like Columbus in my writing journeys. I’m too stubborn to ask for directions, and I usually end up getting lost in a strange land, but either way, the voyage was grand (okay…maybe Columbus isn’t a good example…what with all the scurvy and mutiny).
Even as a pantser, I still have a storyboard in my head of where the novel is going. At the crux of it, are always my fallible but lovable characters, struggling through rough, turbulent waters to get to the happily ever after they deserve. For me, this is an organic way of writing. I develop the storyline as the chapters’ progress. Unfortunately, sometimes the story becomes stagnant as something new and shiny catches my fancy. I veer off course to explore it. This is the reason why I have about a dozen unfinished manuscripts. I know where they are going, but I’ve temporarily lost the wind in my sails. I don’t mind it though, because being a pantser allows me to the freedom to set something aside. I can move on when I need to, but it also results in some interesting side effects—such as cannibalism. I’ll admit it - sometimes I steal an idea from one unfinished work, and assign it to another. Sometimes, the finished work is a mash-up between two different books. Whatever the case, it usually migrates to something very different from what I started with. I like that concept, because for me, it builds a better book, more realistic characters, and a stronger happily ever after.
When I wrote The Other P-Word, I was thinking about how the plans we make often paint us into a corner. The heroine, Billie Price, is a plotter by nature and she is on a set course. Then along comes Evan David Wright, who shows her even the best laid plans are not always the right ones. Suddenly, her course is not so clear. I’m really happy I was able to finish this story. The Other Words Series is very special to me. I’ve lived and breathed these characters for a few years now and I’m thrilled to see Billie’s story published. Because every writer, both plotters and pantsers, would agree the very best words you can type are ‘The End.’
Excerpt
We separated for a while. I went toward the romance section, while Evan searched the biographies. I felt his presence behind me as I gazed at one of my favorite books.
“Are you checking that out…or are you checking him out?”
True, the man with the regency era jabot sans shirt was hot. He wasn’t Evan hot, but not bad.
“I’ve read it a hundred times. I own it. I just like to look at it. Make sure it’s still here for someone else to enjoy.”
“Is it your favorite?”
“One of them—probably the one that started my love of all things romance. It had all of those perfect grand gestures.” I turned to him, sucking a succession of deep breaths into my diaphragm and letting it out slowly. “You know?”
“No, are you hyperventilating?”
“I’m creating that moment—the one that seizes your heart in movies and books. This story had it. Although it is very sad.”
“It is?”
I nodded, pointing to the dashing model on the cover. “The hero dies tragically saving the heroine at the end.” I slapped my hand against my mouth. “I can’t believe I just gave away the ending. I hate it when people do that.”
It’s okay, Price.” He took the book from me. “The Last Lusts of Lord Monroe is not on my current reading list.”
“I should have figured.”
He handed it back to me. I ran my finger down the spine and silently thanked Lorraine Malter again for moving me with her words, before putting it back in its rightful place.
“So that’s the book that inspired you to write?”
“Yes, I snuck it from my mom’s room when I was a kid. It might sounds strange but even as a young girl, it made me realize what I wanted—that kind of sacrifice.”
“You want a man who dies for you?”
“Yes.” Wait…that doesn’t sound right.
Evan shifted closer to me. “How do you know he’d die for you if the opportunity never presented itself?”
Good question. A slow grin spread across his face—the kind that said, you’re adorably amusing. It aggravated me.
“I would just know in my heart. It works both ways, Evan. I’d die for him too.”
“Why would he want you to?”
“Are you making fun of me?”
“No. I’m trying to understand you.”
About MK Schiller:
MK Schiller is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. By day, she dons a magic cape, calculator (sometimes an abacus), and an assortment of gel pens for her work in the world of finance. But by night, she sits by the warm glow of her computer monitor, and conjures up handsome heart-warming heroes and the vivacious heroines they love.
A wife and mother of two loveable, but angst-ridden teenagers, she enjoys movies, gardening, and travelling. Although she loves to write, she is a reader first and enjoys nothing more than curling up with a good book and some tasty Italian (the food, of course!). She hopes you will enjoy her stories and write to her.
