Book Two: Jax’s Story

I believe in soul mates. Why? Because I have one and her name is Lily Madison.

I’ve loved Lily my whole life; she’s all I’ve ever known. But sometimes, when something has always been there, it’s hard to recognize it for what it is. I didn’t realize how deeply Lily was ingrained in every fabric of my soul until I felt her absence.

Sometimes in life, once choices are made and paths are altered, it is often impossible to go back.

I know this because I stand here with a two-carat engagement ring in my hand, waiting to ask someone to be my wife. I’m ready to love and cherish her ‘til death do us part. But, there’s just one problem.

She isn’t Lily.

Will the choices that have been made change our path forever or can fate find its way?

God, I love her. I cradle her face between my hands, staring into her eyes for a beat before I crash my lips against hers taking her in a soul devouring kiss. Taking what’s mine. What I want. What I’ve always wanted.

This is the second book in the Choices series about Jax and Lily. This is Jax’s version of events plus the continuation to Jax and Lily’s HEA. Yes, we do get there eventually. Yay!

The first book, A Beautiful Kind of Love, left us with that serious WTF ending so I was anxious to get to find out what the heck was happening inside Jax’s head.  After all this was a guy professing all his love for Lily but then after pressure from his Dad he ended his forever love as he could not give priority to Lily. So off they went on with their separate lives but keeping in touch now and again. For Jax this meant he fell for Stella. The problem I have with that is if he could not prioritise Lily how he could do this for Stella (who he was BFF with). Anyhow the shocker that he was to marry Stella at the end of the last book leaves us to here to see what would happen next.

The majority of AFKOL is taken with Jax and Stella which although lovely to read and understand some of Jax’s actions and why he did certain things, I would have liked to have had more Lily and Jax interactions. There was a lot of angst and emotive story to go through and whilst I LOVE a lot of angst I was praying for some good things to happen (which they did so the new reader does need to be patient) When Jax asked Lily to be the official wedding photographer I was ready to throw myself in the sea. W…..T…..actual…..EFF!!! ?? And for Lily to accept. Oh my word (you see the angst I was driven though LOL)

This was a hefty emotional read to get through but I must point out we do get a gorgeous HEA but there was so much riding on Jax to do the right thing. Yes he did a wonderful thing for Stella but his priority should have always been Lily. No question. If the last 30% of this book had been more of 70% of the book this would have been a five star read hands down. This was still a compelling read though and I would recommend if you are like me and love to go through such depths of pain to bring you out at the end with a beautiful conclusion. Yes I can definitely say when I got to the end I could shout ’It’s been emotional!’ Four stars.
