Synopsis

Years ago, I was burned by a woman.

I forgave, but I haven’t forgotten, and it’s a road I’ll never go down again.
My career has become my life instead. I’m Max Graham, the biggest music agent in the business. Women love me, but I don’t do love anymore. I’ve found another way to meet my needs.

Eve Kennedy—stylist to the stars and total bombshell. By far, she’s the most daring woman I’ve ever had in my bed with a sexual appetite as ferocious as mine.

We might just have the hottest sex life in Miami and LA.

We don’t date anyone else—although, sometimes, we invite someone for a night. We travel the world, and I lavish her with gifts. But she knows my career comes first.

And the best part? For the past two years, she’s been happy with our arrangement.

Or so I thought.

I’ve survived heartbreak once before, but this one could be the end of me.

Review

Contracted is interconnected to other books by this author which focus on different couples. This book is about Max and Eve.

Max along with his three best friends own an agency business to the stars. For the past decade he has focused his life on his business and career. He doesn’t do relationships but for the past two years he has continued to enjoy the extremely hot arrangement he has with Eve, who happens to be the best friend of his best friend’s girlfriend. Having got burned in the past by his high school sweetheart he is happy to continue with the arrangement with Eve without the hassle of commitment other than between the sheets.

Eve is an independent woman who has grown her business of dresser to the stars from scratch and is now flying high. For the most part she has been happy to let love and relationships be second to her career and the arrangement with Max suited her fine. However she has started to feel that the lust is turning to something so much more.

There were some parts of this book that didn’t sit right with me but having finished it I can understand the reasoning why they were included. The threesome at the start was a bit of an eyebrow raiser but this was illustrating that the arrangement was purely about sex. I still didn’t like it though. Sorry. The other thing I felt was missing was the romance. Yes it turned up nearing the end and was a great HEA but throughout the book Eve and Max were mostly separated. I also wished the part where Max finally got his head and heart aligned came so much sooner in the book. It appeared to happen overnight and felt rushed.

Overall though I did enjoy it, it kept me engaged with some times frustration and others with holy hotness. Yes this book was extremely steamy and sexy. I could easily feel the chemistry between Max and Eve so I just wished that connection of a higher level had come through much sooner in the storyline. For these missing parts for me this was a four star read so yes still good but could have been easily a five star. Looking forward to Scarlett’s story.

The Author

Bestselling author Marni Mann knew she was going to be a writer since middle school. While other girls her age were daydreaming about teenage pop stars, Mann was fantasizing about penning her first novel. She crafts sexy, titillating stories that weave together her love of darkness, mystery, passion, and human emotion. A New Englander at heart, she now lives in Sarasota, Florida with her husband and their two dogs who subsequently have been characters in her books. When she’s not nose deep in her laptop working on her next novel, she’s scouring for chocolate, sipping wine, traveling to new locations, and devouring fabulous books.
