A man with a painful past.
Hunter Kogan is no stranger to pain. For the past five years, he has been in a downward spiral, his days dark and grey. He spends most of his waking hours stumbling through, hating every second, wishing he didn’t even exist.
A woman with a secret.
Danielle Davidson was born with a secret, one she knows should never get out. That very secret was what had her running from the only man she’s ever loved. But it seems someone has figured it out, and they want her dead because of it.
A man who can save them both.
Kye Sterling knows Hunter has a troubled past. He knows someone hurt the man, which is the very reason he doesn’t mind getting close, wanting to ease Hunter’s pain in the only way he knows how. Not that it’s working. Nothing seems to be working.
When Max Adorite comes to Sniper 1 Security seeking personal protection for his cousin Danielle, the world as Hunter and Kye know it will forever be changed.
Can the three of them figure out the threat to Dani before a madman gets his revenge? Can Hunter finally move out of the past and get the answers he so desperately needs? Or will he end up pushing away the two people who could pull him out of the darkness and into the light?
Review
This is the third book in the Sniper 1 Security series and follows the story of Hunter Kogan, Danielle Davidson and Kye Sterling. This is a MFM romance. New readers might find it best to read the previous books in the series although at a touch I feel it can be read as a standalone.
A man with a painful past ..…that was the clincher that got me hooked on wanting to read this one. There is nothing more fulfilling than reaching a HEA for a man with a painful past. Hunter Kogan certainly had that when the love of his life left him standing at the altar on their wedding day. Fast forward years later and the long lost lovers come face to face again when Danielle’s life is threatened with no idea who is wanting her dead. In steps Hunter and Kye to protect Dani.
Kye and Hunter have had a few years of sexy hook ups but all in secret as Hunter is not out as bisexual to anyone. Due to Hunter’s hurt from the past though, Kye is becoming tired of the way Hunter treats him until finally he has had enough and takes off only to run into the one connection the men have in common.
This was a drama and suspense lead storyline with many twists and turns of who is it and who did it? As the three lovers had a lot to work through the romance was very slow burn but does end up with a HEA. For me I would have liked that little extra romance built in for me to fully connect with the trio. There was also an overuse of ‘The Man’ and ‘The Guy’ that I found a little distracting at times throughout the read.
Overall though another winner from Ms Edwards with plenty of drama, suspense and heat. A four stars read for me.
